Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026. This policy explains what information Converty collects, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Your files are never used for AI training
This is a core commitment, not a footnote. Uploaded files are processed solely to perform the conversion you requested. We do not use file contents to train machine learning models, build AI datasets, or improve algorithms with your data.
Data controller
For the purposes of applicable data protection law, the data controller responsible for your personal data is:
- Legal entity: InkAware
- Country of establishment: Germany
- Privacy contact: privacy@converty.us
Converty (https://converty.us) is operated by the entity named above.
Information we collect
Converty is designed to collect as little personal data as possible.
- Files you upload — temporarily, for conversion processing.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, and request logs needed to operate and secure the service.
- Server and security logs — request metadata such as IP address, timestamps, HTTP status codes, and error messages needed to operate, secure, and debug the service.
- Advertising data — when ads are enabled, our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may collect data through ad impressions and its own cookies, subject to Google's policies. We do not receive the contents of your uploaded files for ad targeting.
- Communications — if you contact us, we retain your message and email address to respond.
We do not require an account. We do not ask for your name, address, or payment information for standard use of the service.
Uploaded files
Converty uses two processing paths depending on the conversion type:
- Client-side conversions — some formats are converted entirely in your browser. Those files are not uploaded to our servers for processing.
- Server-side conversions — other formats are transmitted to our servers over HTTPS, processed to produce the output you selected, and stored only for the short retention period described below.
We do not:
- Read file contents for purposes unrelated to your conversion
- Sell or share file contents with third parties for their marketing
- Use uploaded files to train machine learning or AI models
- Target advertising based on the contents of files you convert
Automatic deletion
Server-side uploads and converted outputs are retained only for the minimum period needed to complete processing and allow you to download results — typically within one hour. After that window, they are permanently deleted from our servers by automated cleanup jobs.
Client-side conversions never leave your device for processing; we do not store those source files on our servers.
See our File Deletion Policy for retention timelines and exceptions.
Analytics and logging
When enabled in production, we may use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service — to understand aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, devices). Plausible does not use your uploaded files, does not track you across other websites, and does not build advertising profiles.
If Plausible is not configured, we do not run a separate first-party analytics product on Converty.
We do maintain server and application logs for security, rate limiting, and debugging. These logs may include IP address, browser user-agent, request paths, file sizes, format types, and error codes. Logs do not include the contents of your files and are not combined with advertising profiles based on what you convert.
Advertising
Converty is a free service supported by advertising. We display banner advertisements on the site and may show a full-width interstitial advertisement after a successful conversion, subject to a cooldown period.
In production, ads are served through Google AdSense when configured. In local development, placeholder advertisements are shown instead — they do not contact ad networks or set advertising cookies.
We do not use the contents of your uploaded files or your conversion history to target ads. Google may collect and use data according to its own Privacy Policy and Advertising Policy.
Third-party services
We rely on infrastructure providers for hosting, storage, and networking. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations that limit use to what is necessary to operate the service.
When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense acts as an independent third party and may process data through ad delivery. We do not sell file contents to advertisers or data brokers.
Security
All data transfers between your browser and our servers use HTTPS encryption. Files are processed on isolated infrastructure with access restricted to automated systems and authorized personnel.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We implement reasonable safeguards, but we cannot guarantee absolute security. Read more on our Security page.
Data retention
Server-side files are deleted automatically after a short retention period (typically within one hour). Server logs may be kept longer for security monitoring and debugging, typically no more than 90 days unless a longer period is required by law.
Support correspondence is retained as long as needed to resolve your inquiry and for our records.
GDPR compliance
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under applicable data protection law. Our legal basis for processing file data is performance of the conversion service you requested. For security logging and abuse prevention, we rely on legitimate interests in operating a safe service. Where advertising cookies are used, our partners may rely on consent or legitimate interests as described in their own policies.
