File Deletion Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026. Converty is built around short-lived file storage. This page explains exactly when your files are removed.
File lifecycle
Every file follows the same path from upload to permanent removal.
Upload
Your file is sent over HTTPS to our servers.
Processing
The file is validated and prepared for conversion.
Conversion
The output format is generated on isolated infrastructure.
Download
You retrieve the converted file from a secure link.
Auto Delete
Source and output files are scheduled for removal.
Permanent Removal
All file data is erased and cannot be recovered.
Automatic File Deletion
Deletion is fully automated — no manual step required. Once the retention window closes, both your original upload and the converted output are permanently erased from our servers. Files cannot be recovered after deletion.
What gets deleted
- Original files you upload
- Converted output files
- Temporary processing artifacts created during conversion
Retention period
Files are typically deleted within one hour after upload or conversion completes — whichever is later. This window gives you time to download results without leaving data on our servers indefinitely.
If a conversion fails before producing output, the uploaded source file is still deleted on the same schedule.
Automatic cleanup
Deletion is handled by automated systems. No manual action is required on your part. Once the retention period expires, files are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
What we do not store
- Long-term archives of your uploads
- Searchable indexes of file contents
- Conversion history tied to personal accounts (accounts are not required)
Server logs
Technical logs — such as request timestamps, file sizes, and error codes — may be retained separately for security and debugging. These logs do not include file contents and are purged on a rolling basis, typically within 90 days.
Legal exceptions
In rare cases, we may preserve data beyond the standard retention period if required by law, court order, or to investigate abuse that threatens the Service or other users. Such preservation is limited to what is legally necessary.
Your responsibility
Download your converted files before the retention window closes. Because Converty does not require accounts, we cannot restore files after deletion.
